GREEN BAY, Wis. — Dec. 17, 2009 — Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) of Green Bay, Wis., has announced the sale of an 8-color 52-inch gearless, sleeved Fusion flexographic printing press to Prestige-Pak of Fond du Lac, Wis. The customer’s decision to select the PCMC Fusion was motivated in combination by PCMC’s advanced press technology and the desire to support regional jobs benefitting American manufacturing.
“The opportunity to keep our business with a U.S. company received heavy consideration in our decision,” stated Vince Kuber, President and CEO of Prestige-Pak, a privately owned supplier of graphically printed and laminated products serving a variety of food markets. “It makes perfect sense for our business. We are proud to select PCMC and support jobs in Wisconsin and the U.S.”
PCMC’s Fusion press provides new standards for environmental friendliness and operator simplicity. Like all of the company’s printing presses, Fusion is designed, assembled and tested in Green Bay and shipped globally. The majority of the materials used are sourced from North American companies, many of which are also located in Wisconsin.
“At a time when many industry announcements pertain to job loss, it’s rewarding to announce projects that sustain jobs in Wisconsin,” said Tim Sullivan, President and CEO of PCMC. “The fact that our two companies ultimately found a mutually beneficial relationship in our own backyard speaks volumes for the quality of workmanship in Wisconsin.”
PCMC, a division of St. Louis-based Barry Wehmiller Companies, Inc., specializes in the design and manufacture of printing presses for the flexible packaging, label and carton markets. The company employs more than 900 associates in North American locations and more than 1,100 associates worldwide with offices in Brazil, China, Japan, Italy, Germany and the U.K.
