NPFUG HEADS TO DALLAS!!

February 22, 2008 — Your NPFUG Board of Directors is in the final planning stages of our NPFUG spring event. This year our meeting will be held April 27-30, 2008 in Dallas, Texas in conjunction with the FFTA’s Annual Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition. This is a great opportunity for you to attend our regular NPFUG meeting as well as the world’s largest flexographic technical meeting, all for the same cost.

I know travel budgets are tight but this is an opportunity that you must not miss. In the past we have suggested to make it easier to attend meetings such as this you have to make your case to your publisher or general manager. Here are a few suggestions you may want to use in making that case.

First, go to our Flexo News site, http://www.flexonews.org/ which is our NFPUG quarterly newsletter published by Hoshin Seki. On that site we have current and past issues. Go through the various editions and list the technical items we mention in those articles. Those “technical items” were topics of discussion in meetings past. That and that alone should be enough to convince your publisher you should attend this years meeting.

Next, go to the FTA web site, http://www.flexography.org/online/index.cfm. Browse the agenda “FFTA Forum Schedule at a Glance” for the sessions scheduled, which will also list the topics NPFUG will have on Monday and Tuesday. With those two lists alone you should be able to convince your publisher you should attend.

Last, I would mention to him/her that this years meeting is a no-nonsense educational and technical seminar; not a party show. There will be Flexo technical sessions all day every day. In addition to attending the newspaper sessions you can also attend other sessions, prepress as well as press, which are held for the general Flexo community. The show floor, INFO*FLEX Exhibition, has nothing but Flexo related vendor displays.

The NPFUG costs and expenditures will be done differently this year. In years past when hosting an event we had to secure space for our conference, guarantee hotel rooms, and arrange lunches, breaks, dinners and cocktail parties. We raised money for those events by general vendor sponsorships, the newspaper/vendor registration fees and through the vendor table top display sales.

This year one of the benefits of NPFUG being in conjunction with the FFTA’s Annual Forum is the FTA will secure our meeting space, negotiate the best hotel room rate and arrange the lunches, breaks and dinners etc. They will pay for those items by collecting money via the FFTA Annual Forum Fee. The FTA has offered us a special one time rate for our NPFUG newspaper and printer members. The regular price for attending this event is $645/745 but the FTA is allowing our newspaper members to attend for $495 per attendee; vendors please contact the FTA directly for the vendor rate.

NPFUG is still planning to raise money this year from our NPFUG vendors as we have in years past, however this year we will use the vendor donations to help provide our NPFUG newspaper member with an even lower rate than the $495 mentioned above. NPFUG Board member, Don Szwejbka, INX, Inc. will be contacting the NPFUG vendors to solicit funds; however, we are unable to be specific on how much your cost will be until we know how much we raise.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Dallas!!
