April 2008 — NatureFlex™ NVR is the latest addition to the Innovia Films’ NatureFlex™ range of compostable flexible films for packaging and labels. NatureFlex™ NVR belongs to the second generation of NatureFlex™ films, together with NatureFlex™ NVS and NatureFlex™ NM. It also has similar benefits including: enhanced printability and conversion receptivity, improved stiffness under chill cabinet conditions and good transparency and gloss.
NatureFlex™ NVR has a wide heat seal range with strong but peelable seals and an intermediate moisture barrier. NatureFlex™ films are suitable for Horizontal-Form-Fill-Seal, Vertical-Form-Fill-Seal, twistwrap, overwrap and bagmaking. Target applications for NatureFlex™ NVR include confectionery, bakery and dried goods e.g. pasta, pulses and rice.
As with all other NatureFlex™ films, NatureFlex™ NVR is certified to both EN13432 and ASTM D6400 and will biodegrade in all key situations including industrial composting, home composting and waste water environments.
NatureFlex™ NVR is based on renewable wood pulp sourced from managed plantations which either have, or are working towards, FSC, PEFC or similar certification. The renewable or biobased content of a range of NatureFlex™ films has been determined by ASTM D6866 and shown to be circa 95%.
NatureFlex™ NVR has CarbonZero status due to the minimisation of the carbon emissions caused by its production. This follows a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment and subsequent investment in carbon reduction schemes for the residual emissions.
