Cost efficient solutions for digital sign & display production
Bangkok (Thailand), November 11, 2008 – EskoArtwork, the producer of industry-leading Kongsberg digital finishing systems and state-of-the-art software for preproduction, will demonstrate its expanded offering of applications for signs and displays at Fespa World Expo Asia Pacific 2008, Stand C40, from November 28-30 in Bangkok.
Geert De Proost, EskoArtwork Director Digital Converting Software product group, comments: “Sign and display printers are of growing importance to EskoArtwork, and we look forward to demonstrating our expertise during Fespa World Expo Asia Pacific 2008. EskoArtwork Kongsberg have firmly cemented their market leading position as a supplier of cutting and finishing tables in the sign and display business. They are delivered with a versatile set of tools for cutting and creasing heavy-duty materials that are used in a wide variety of new emerging applications for signs and displays. The Kongsberg tables can work with a very diverse range of substrates—from textiles to heavy-duty Re-Board materials. It is an outstanding investment for the digital printer who is searching for a profitable finishing solution for short run production”.
Highlights of what visitors will see on the EskoArtwork stand include:
NEW! SignUp: Nesting workflow application for digital sign production. Competition among sign and display businesses is difficult, and companies need ways to reduce costs to increase margins. Built on EskoArtwork’s expertise in layout technology for packaging printing, SignUp is an interactive layout application for digital sign and display shops, and large format digital press owners, who are looking to streamline production and minimize material waste.
SignUp will conduct layouts based on ordered quantities and job priorities. It can conduct nesting for rectangular as well as irregular shapes, based on the cutting contour. From there, SignUp sends a PDF file to the press and simultaneously sends finishing information to the EskoArtwork Kongsberg cutting table. It is a central, RIP-independent application, so it can be used on a variety of digital printing and proofing devices, both sheet and roll fed. SignUp also reduces preparation times dramatically for operator-intensive tiling jobs, particularly for specially shaped large format displays and substrates that require milling. It fully automates the digital printing and the finishing by reading the printed barcodes with the camera on the finishing device.
Geert De Proost, EskoArtwork Director Digital Converting Software product group, comments: “Sign and display shops are always under pressure for time and cost. With SignUp, EskoArtwork has created a very easy to use, powerful and unique workflow tool that is specifically dedicated to reduce the cost of sign and display production. Utilizing the same expertise and knowledge we have gained from nesting unusual shapes for packaging, we have provided a tool to cut and trim signs and displays efficiently.
Kongsberg i-XL20: Digital finishing and cutting for a wide range of materials. EskoArtwork's i-XL series of finishing tables are regarded as the industry’s most cost-effective machines, loaded with unique features that save time and boost quality. The i-XL20 complements digital printing of rigid signs and displays by delivering a unique finishing solution for the widest range of materials, providing automation, high productivity and outstanding precision. Targeted printed materials include foam board, vinyl foils, acrylics, polycarbonates, Dibond, rigid PVC, wood, textiles, card stock, corrugated cardboard, plywood and high pressure laminates as well as precision cutting of other popular printed materials including sign vinyl, foils, label stock, foamboard, polycarbonates, Styrene, PVC, textiles, card stock, corrugated cardboard and magnets.
During Fespa World Expo, EskoArtwork will demonstrate the innovative i-cut vision control system on the Kongsberg i-XL20 and i-script® workflow that generates exact registration and direct control for die-less cutting contours to perfectly match printed images. The i-cut camera measures each printed object using register marks to define the position and to compensate for any dimensional changes, distortions or material variations like shrinkage or stretching.
ArtiosCAD: The world’s most popular structural design software for packaging design. ArtiosCAD tools are specifically designed for packaging professionals for product development, virtual prototyping and manufacturing, and version 7.4 has new design geometry and file integration features. ArtiosCAD 7.4 can extract vector geometry data from PDF files and automatically create ARD structure files, while 3D solids with edges can be optimized when rotated. By supporting VMware Fusion for the Mac using Windows XP Professional, users can run ArtiosCAD on the Mac, and Score! native files can be opened directly in ArtiosCAD.
