SAN LUIS OBISPO, August 11, 2008 — Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Institute, San Luis Obispo, CA, USA, and SustainCommWorld announce the second annual The Business of Green Media Conference to take place on January 22, 2009, at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center. The conference will continue to focus on green sustainable media and its relationship to the graphic arts industry, its providers and consumers.
The program will cover issues of energy conservation and help attendees determine how well their company is doing and how to improve with regard to sustainability practices while maintaining profitability. Attendees will learn about achieving profitability while reducing energy consumption and waste.
With the increasing pressure from government regulatory agencies to exercise sustainable practices, companies are being held accountable. This conference will address government regulations and expectations, and provide advice on compliance. Finally, the conference will address various ways to achieve sustainability certifications and what such certifications mean in the way of marketing advantages.
According to Harvey Levenson, head of Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Department, "The response to last year's conference was so positive, and the issue of sustainability has received increased importance since last year, that we expect the 2009 conference to be much larger in attendance and corporate sponsorships. Of great importance to the business community, are customer expectations. Today's clients of the graphic arts industry want to only deal with companies addressing sustainability in the areas of recycling, carbon footprints, global warming, and related concerns. The conference will cover the expectations of customers and how to meet them.”
The program will include such presentations as "The Sustainability Shakeout and What It Will Mean to You”; "Carbon Footprinting and the Life Cycle Analysis of Print and Digital Media”; "Sustainability Dashboards, Environmental Management Systems, and Lean Green Media”; "Green Certifications, Green Power, Chain of Custody and EcoLabels”; "Sustainability Reporting and Sustainable Business Practices”; "Marketing of Sustainable Print Solutions," and "What Lies Ahead on the Horizon."
This one-day event will be packed with industry leaders explaining, through group discussions and special topic breakouts, how they are successfully meeting these objectives. The conference will be followed by a "Sustainability Banquet" at the Embassy Suites hotel in San Luis Obispo. A banquet speaker will be announced.
Attendee registration will open on October 6 at www.businessofgreenmedia.com. For more information send an email to Lyndee Sing.
