Comprehensive printing and converting solutions for plastic film from Bobst Group at ArabPlast 2009

December 3, 2008 — Bobst Group will present its comprehensive range of equipment and services destined for the plastic film converting industry, at the ArabPlast 2009 exhibition in Dubai, UAE from 10th–13th January on stand 1E442/445, in Hall 1 (Zabeel).  This will include Atlas & Titan slitter rewinders, Rotomec gravure printing and coating & laminating solutions, Fischer & Krecke and Schiavi flexo printing technology and General vacuum metallizing solutions..

The Rotomec coating & laminating product range comprises the CL 850 duplex (max. 450 m/min) and the CL 1000 (max. 600 m/min) duplex or triplex multi-technology laminators with extremely sensitive web handling control to produce superior quality structures using the widest combination of flexible materials, including very thin aluminium foil.  Larger coating lines include single or tandem extrusion / co-extrusion systems for flexible packaging, paper and board, and lines for solventless silicone and hot melt or water based adhesive coatings.  Rotomec’s comprehensive range of gravure presses includes different solutions, each delivering specific customer benefits in the various market sectors for printing flexible materials.

Fischer & Krecke will present the next generation 8- and 10-colour flexo presses FP 14S and FP 16S with SMARTGPS (graphic positioning system) - an innovation which caused a sensation at drupa 2008.  Before starting the machine, the exact impression and register data of all print sleeves is determined and written to a special RFID chip in the sleeve. All data is automatically transferred to the machine control system.  When the press starts, all print units are in their correct register and impression position - without corrections required and without any material wastage.  This represents a huge reduction in costs for the converter.

Schiavi will present the new economic 8-colour CI solution EF 4030, together with the well-established EF 4040 8-colour CI flexo press.  They are both highly efficient flexo presses with sleeve technology designed for a wide range of printing applications on a variety of substrates.

Atlas & Titan will present their latest developments in slitting & rewinding technology for plain & metallized plastic film, flexible packaging materials, laminates, labelstock, paper & board.  The highly versatile Titan SR8 cantilever slitter rewinder is the most successful in its range. The compact Titan ER610 slitter rewinder is a lower cost solution for smaller converters producing lower volumes of flexible materials.  More fully automated solutions include the Titan CT610 automatic turret and the Titan SMA900 slitter rewinder for very high production volumes.

Atlas is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of slitter rewinders for plastic film, paper, foil & labelstock.  It provides the world’s largest & fastest slitting machines for plastic film - and has installed more than 180 primary film slitters world-wide exceeding 6m in width.  This includes the widest machines at 10 metres and the fastest at 1500 m/min.  Atlas also has a broad range of secondary slitter rewinders, processing materials in narrower widths up to approx. 3 metres.

General (General Vacuum Equipment Ltd.) is the world’s premier supplier of vacuum web coating and metallizing solutions for the deposition of conventional aluminium and clear barrier coatings for plastic film, packaging materials, decorative & label applications, capacitor, photo-voltaic (PV) and high technology security coatings.   The K5000 vacuum metallizer is arguably the world’s finest metallizer for today’s plastic film industry.  It provides a competitive edge by increasing product quality, reducing operating costs and producing the highest output of metallized film per hour than its closest competitors.  A wide range of other versatile vacuum coating solutions is also available.

All machines have the benefit of Bobst Group’s global customer service & support operations.
