November 2011 — UK based print and specialist labelling company, Customark, based in the West Midlands have brought a five colour award winning Edale Alpha compact press to join their other two Edale machines.
Established in 1968, Customark originally produced blank and printed labels; quickly realising in order to grow the business they would have to diversify and add to their product range – and today they have grown into one of the UK’s most diverse printing and labelling companies producing several unique and specialist labelling and ID applications.
As business has continued to grow, Customark made the decision to purchase the 5 colour Edale printing press. Barry Foster, Production Manager at Customark says “The Alpha offered us the ability to print, sprocket, perforate, undercut, cut and laminate as well as back slit and trim the labels in any combination of our customers’ requirements. This new press also has a cold foil unit on it to enable us to produce higher quality labels. ”
The Alpha boasts a short web path and quick job change, with the ability to print up to five colours in a footprint of just 2.5m2. The Alpha is capable of converting a wide variety of label, packaging and ticketing substrates. The press is ideal for those new to the flexographic process, as well as companies looking for improved productivity and profitability from today’s short run lengths.
Foster concludes, “The versatility, reliability and quality of print of our first Edale proved to be so good that we now have two of Edale’s latest machines which we believe are amongst the best on the market; even with our heavy investment in new digital technologies and silk screen printing we still rely heavily on our Alpha’s to cope with 27% of our printed label business”
