C-P Flexible Packaging Uses Certification to Validate its
Sustainability Efforts to Customers, Suppliers, and Community
Loveland, OH--July 13, 2010--The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership announces that
York, PA-based C-P Flexible Packaging is the 23rd SGP-certified printer. This privately owned
manufacturer of flexible packaging has been an industry leader for more than 50 years. To
become SGP-certified, printers must pass an on-site audit with criteria based on a holistic
approach to sustainability. C-P chose to become SGP-certified because it had already
implemented similar programs and processes for plant and product food safety and quality.
Being SGP-certified allows C-P to validate its sustainability efforts to its customers, suppliers,
and community.
"As film packaging manufacturers, we realize the importance of proper environmental
stewardship. Consequently, we have been actively pursuing sustainability initiatives for more
than a decade,” states Scott Hammer, Director of Technology and Sustainability at C-P. “This is
especially important because packaging is such a large part of everyone's lives. What we
produce affects many people. Therefore, we must do what we can to develop and promote
sustainable packaging, and to demonstrate the positive results that responsible manufacturing
can yield. We want to be known as the responsible manufacturer of flexible packaging films."
C-P Flexible Packaging serves diverse markets, including snack foods, bakery, confection, and
consumer goods, with a focus on technology, quality, and customer service. C-P uses a variety
of flexographic presses and lamination methods. The company supplies roll stock for multiple
packaging markets, including pouches, reclose applications, and shrink sleeves.
“The Flexographic Technical Association is pleased that C-P has added SGP to its credentials.
This marks the fifth flexo printer to be SGP certified. This long-time FTA member is dedicated
not only to printing the best possible flexo product, but to doing it sustainably,” states Dr. Doreen
Monteleone, Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety of the Flexographic Technical
Association. “We encourage other flexo printers to follow the example set by those five facilities
in pursuing validation for sustainability efforts.”
SGP-certified printers are assigned a certification number and logo for use on their printed
products to indicate it was "Printed by a SGP Printer." Printing facilities located in the United
States and Canada are eligible to apply for certification with the SGP Partnership.
